Adam Frey faced challenges upon his arrival in America, struggling to find employment due to the high number of German immigrants seeking work. Despite the difficulties, he eventually found work on a farm but earned only $6.00 per month and board, prompting him to seek better opportunities in Baltimore. Adam Frey's hard work and good management near Jack's Mountain, Adams County, Pennsylvania, led to successful cultivation of stony fields.

In a letter written in German by Christian Frey in 1833, he expressed both happiness and sadness about his experiences in America. Christian Frey highlighted the vast land sizes in farming, with each farm house situated on 200 to 300 acres of land, a quarter of which was timber. He described the farming practices, including low fences to prevent hogs from escaping and high fences to keep horses in, as well as the practice of leaving cattle out year-round.

The Frey family maintained connections through activities like family circle letters and reunions, fostering a sense of unity and shared history. The family's hospitality and warmth were noted, with memories of visits and gatherings bringing joy to all involved. The legacy of hard work, resilience, and community spirit carried on through the generations, shaping the Frey family's story in America.
