As a supplement to the October 1897 Quarterly: William and Mary College Quarterly Historical Magazine. Vol lll October, 1899 No 2., the record of the descendants of Major James Goodwin was published to trace the ancestry of the Brookeville Indiana line, and branches of his line. The Goodwin Families in America were among the very first of the English speaking people to come to America. The earliest ones were in Virginia; Samuel Goodwin was massacred at Jamestown 1607-14. Sir Francis Goodwin was a member of the Virginia Company. He died in England, 1620. William and Ozias Goodwin, brothers, settled in Hartford CT., 1632.
