This short book covers the Rhode Island Maxson family, and includes a look at Richard who was killed by indians. His widow escaped with suurvivors and soon after gave birth to their son, John. This was the spring of 1638. John Maxson has the distinction of being the first white child born on the Island. This account covers the descendants of John Maxson and Mary Mosher. Rev. John Maxson's parents came from England to America, being early settlers of New England, among the earliest who attempted to land on the shores of Connecticut.
