W. Bentley. 1784-1819

William Bentley was born in Boston, MA June 22, 1759. He was the son of Joshua and Elizabeth Bentley and named after his maternal grandfather, William Payne of Boston. He entered Harvard College at the age of fourteen and graduated with high honors in 1777.
