The records gathered on General Daniel Bissell born 1768 or 1769, married about 1793 to Deborah Sebor. Together they had five children. Information is given on his ancestors and descendants as well as the Hoyt, Strong and other families with which they intermarried. Variations of the name include Bisselle, Byssell, Byselle, Bessell, and more. They were most likely of Huguenot origin.
