William Carpenter (1605-1659) and his family emigrated from England and settled first at Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1638. He and his wife, Abigail, had seven children, ca. 1628-1644. The family moved to Rehoboth, Massachusetts, ca. 1644. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and elsewhere. Record chiefly follows male lines. Includes Bliss, Brown, Clark, Howard, Perry, Read, Walker and related families.
