This is the history and genealogy of the Chittenden family, with a focus on William Chittenden and his descendants. He was one of the company of twenty-five who left their native land of England to exercise their religious freedoms, emigrated to America and began the settlement of Guilford, Connecticut in 1639. Their first recorded act was signing the Covenant on board the ship during their passage.
