Captain John Grout came from England, where he was born in 1615, to New England between 1630-1634. He married Sarah (Busby) Cakebread. This traces the lines of descent for his sons, Joseph (b. 1649) and Jonathan Grout (b. 1658). Allied families that are mentioned include Osgood, White, Field, Stone, and Fuller.
