The Hamilton Family in America. Being an Account of the Founders and First Colonial Families, and an Official List of the Heads of Families of the name Hamilton resident in the United States in 1790. The Hamilton family of England, Scotland and Ireland, among the great families of distinction in the world in war and diplomacy, science, and literature, as nobles and commons among democracy. Among the most distinguished and well known in America was the noted author, soldier, lawyer, and statesman, Alexander Hamilton. He was born January 11, 1757 at Charlestown, island of Nevis, West Indies. His father was James, son of Alexander of Grange, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was an orphan at the age of twelve and had a scant education.

Incomplete but accurate

I follow Wm Hamilton who arrived in MA and died in Danbury CT. This ignores that he movdd to/lived in North Kingston RI, therefore record of his children is not here, but can be had nowadays from other sources. It also has nothing regarding his parentage (Gallatin H) or references his birthplace (Lanark).
