HOPKINS: John Hopkins of Cambridge, MA, 1634, & some of his descendants 1932
By Timothy Hopkins
This is the family of John Hopkins of Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1634. Shown are eleven generations of his descendants to 1932. We see a handwritten letter of John Hopkins to Governor John Winthrop, Jr, of New London, CT, accepting a gift of turkeys. It is probable he died shortly after this letter. His will is dated 1648-49. His wife was named Jane, and they had a son and a daughter. Included in this detailed publication is a partial list of ancestors who qualify their descendants for admission to societies of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, National Society of Colonial Dames of America, Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution.
