Descendants of Barnabas Horton of Southold, Long Island, with Appendix and 1879 Addenda. He was the son of Joseph Horton, of Leicestershire, England. He came to America on the ship "Swallow", in 1633-38. He landed at Hampton, Mass. Later a group that had all been part of the Puritan church of England set sail for Long Island, (Southold). Upon coming ashore they all knelt down and prayed, Peter Hallock leading, as had been determined beforehand. These were the first people of a civilized nation that had ever attempted to settle on the east side of Long Island.
