Philip Hunton, the immigrant ancestor of the branch in New England, came to America when he was a boy. He was born about 1664, upon emigration he was employed by a man at Exeter, New Hampshire, named Hall. He married Mr. Hall's daughter, Betsy Hall in 1687. He lived to 1752. These are his descendants. This pioneering colonial family were typical of the many British subjects that settled in the Royal Province of New Hampshire, they cleared the land, raised families and fought of enemies when needed. They were involved in every aspect of community life. Included are many family records, timelines, Huntoons in the Revolution, War records, and more. The word Hunton is of Saxon origin and is of great antiquity. Variations of the spelling include Hanton, Hinton, Honton, Hynton, Huntoon.
