The Ingersolls of Hampshire County provides a genealogical history of the family from their settlement in America through John Ingersoll of Westfield, Massachusetts. Richard was his father. Hampshire County was incorporated May 7, 1662, taken from a county in south England. Brothers Richard and John Ingersoll came from Bedfordshire, England to Salem, Mass in 1629. This was in the reign of Charles I. Richard was the eldest brother and brought his wife and children.
