JOY: Thomas Joy and His Descendants 1900
By James Richard Joy
A history and genealogy of the Joy family, focussing on Thomas Joy who emigrated to America, from Hingham, Norfolk County. These descendants are in the lines of his sons Samuel of Boston, Joseph of Hingham, and Ephraim of Berwick. Records show Thomas Joy had two acres of land in the center of Boston, and land adjoining the Muddy Brook in 1634. It is supposed that he came in 1630, with the group that accompanied John Winthrop, first governor of the Massachusetts Bay.
