This 1884 book is the Memorial of Josiah Kendall, one of the first settlers of Sterling, Massachusetts, his ancestors and descendants. The ancestor of the subject of this book, is through the line of Francis who came in 1640 and settled Charlestown, Mass. He married Mary Tidd in 1644 and he died at age 88, in 1708. Mary died in 1705.
According to early records found in Massachusetts Gen Society, the Kendalls settled on the borders of three counties of Leicestershire, Warwickshire, and Derbyshire, England. Some prominent Kendalls in England, include John, secretary to Richard lll, Supervisor of the King's Works in 1481. George Kendall was a noted Theologian. Edward was a writer, and other John Kendalls through the years held notable positions. In America the first record is Captain George Kendall to Virginia in 1606-07.
