KNOWLTON Family in England and North America 1998
By William Paul Kinter
This booklet is the Condensed version of the History and Genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America, 1897. It is prepared from a 16 generation computer file of the names of Knowlton descendants and their spouses. They are from the line of Richard Knowlton born in Kent Parish, England. Knowlden means 'at the foot of the knoll". The name is variously spelled Cnolton, Knollton, Knowlton, Knowlden, Nolton, etc. The name is ancient as we see in the first chapter of the History and Genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America. This ancestral record begins with Richard of Kent b. 1553 married to Elizabeth Cantize in 1577. In the 5th gen we see Captain William emigrated to America 1632-4 and was married to Elizabeth.
The aim of this compilation is to preserve ancestral family history for future generations, ensuring that the legacy of these families is not lost over time. The meticulous nature of the records reflects a commitment to accuracy in capturing the lineage and significant life events of family members. It serves as a valuable resource for descendants seeking to understand their heritage.
