LADUE: Ancestors & descendants of Sarah Eleanor Ladue 1930
By Mrs. Grant Rideout
This fascinating book shares the history, ancestors and descendants of Sarah Eleanor Ladue to 1930. She lived from 1835-1902. Pierre Ladou and his wife, Martha, were the emigrant ancestors of West Chester County, New York. In this line the ancestors were French Huguenots, or French Protestants, and many of them fled to America due to religious persecution. Some in the family died as martyrs. One was Philip Ledoux, who was executed about 1565, and Jehan Ladoue was condemned to death in 1569, in Bordeaux. There was an organized slaughter against them in August, 1572, where the number of victims estimated thirty thousand.
