This book provides the ancestors and descendants of Daniel L. and Mary Steigerwalt Leiby. Frederick Leiby (1695-1760) married Maria Mattline (1696-after 1760) They went from their native Switzerland to a wilderness of Pennsylvania, carving out farmland, so their children and descendants might live better lives. Friedrich, his wife and four children landed in Philadelphia on the ship "Samuel", on August 17, 1733. It was a time when thousands were pouring out of the upper Rhineland, to secure religious freedom after a long time of religious war and persecution in Europe.
