Memorials of the Leightons of Ulishaven, Forfarshire, and other Scottish families of the name, Part 1 A.D. 1260-1518.  The Leighton name occurs in some of the oldest annals of English and Scotch history, and this book delves into the first of the name, early family estates, the coat of armour, and prominent family members throughout the years. We see Henry De Lychton of Inverdovat in the County of Fife, a relative of William of 1260, William of 1291 and the William of 1296. Walter in 1512, Sir Alexander, a brother to the Bishop of Aberdeen. The spelling is various and also includes Leighton, Leyghton, and Layton.
