John Libby (1602-1682) emigrated in 1630 from England to Richmond's Island on the coast of what is now Cumberland County, Maine. Maine was settled through enterprises of English merchants. They sent vessels to fish on the coast and established trading houses. One of the stations was located at Richmond's Island. He married twice, and moved later to. John Libby was most likely sent by agent John Winters. He played a vital role in the early settlement and establishment of the town, involved in office and affairs of the community. This book contains the original records of John Libby's descendants from 1602 through 1881. It contains valuable information.
