LICHTENWALNER Family history
By Charles Lichtenwalner, et al. Compiled by the Publication Committee of Penna Branch
1899 was the first Lichtenwalner Reunion, held in Allentown, Penna. This book provides the history of the family of Lichtenwalner, their early history in Pennsylvania, the descendants of Johann. He was born in Germany in 1708. In their journey to America in 1733, as on the passenger list Johann was 33 years old and his wife Barbara was 24, their son was age one. They were on board the 'Samuel of London', and landed at the port of Philadelphia. His passport has been preserved and written in the German language upon a large sheet of sheepskin. Johann purchased a team and wagon and journeyed following an old indian trail from Trexler's Tavern across Macungie, passed up into the western part of what is North Whitehall township. He selected 300 acres of vacant land along the Jordan Creek, which he secured a warrant from the Province of Penna in 1738. Johann the 2nd and Abraham are the only children of Johann whose descendants have records.
