  • 1200

 By Moses Light

This 1896 book on the Light family in America is outlines the brief history and genealogy of the family, natives of Palatinate Germany, who left their 'old country' for America in 1719. Of the three brothers, John Light settled in Lebanon township, then part of Lancaster County, and secured a tract of land there. He erected a large limestone dwelling house where the Mennonites gathered to worship. They had monthly meetings during the French and Indian war, and served as a place of safety for the women and children. It went by the name 'Old Fort'.
