By Vaughn H. Rowley

Three Lindsey brothers emigrated from Scotland to Virginia about 1750, and from there one brother moved to Pennsylvania, another (Isaac) to Tennessee, and the third (Nimrod) moved to the Carolinas. James Lindsey (b.1768) was a descendant of Nimrod, born in a Scottish settlement in North Carolina. He married Ruth Howard and had six children. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and elsewhere. Some descendants became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived in Utah, Idaho and elsewhere. Volume 2 includes: Index. Sequel to the book "Lindsey" compiled by Vaughn Rowley, published in 1963, contains the genealogical data from that book. The book deals primarily with one of the many Lindsey, Lindsay, Linsey lines of George, Sr., James, William, James Monroe and on to the present day. From 1744 in Maryland and Virginia, through the Carolinas, to Alabama and Texas they migrated.
