This detailed book of the Lockes was published in 1916, and covers a genealogical and historical record of the descendants of the Captain John Locke, 1627-1696, and his wife Elizabeth (Berry) of Portsmouth and Rye, New Hampshire. He came from England about 1640 and was killed at the age of 70 by the Indians on August 26, 1696, while reaping in his field at Lockes Neck. Pictured is a monument dedicated to him. Included is the will of John Locke. Also, records of Nathaniel Locke of Portsmouth and a brief history of the Lockes in England.
