Certain members of the Lord family who settled in New York City in the early 1800's, descendants of Thomas Lord of Hartford, Connecticut. Thomas Lord (1585-ca.1667) married Dorothy Bird, and emigrated in 1635 from England to Newtown, Massachusetts, moving in 1636 to Hartford, Connecticut. They had eight children. He was a man of means, position, and influence. Descendants lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Ohio and elsewhere.
