  • 1600

By Daniel Y. McFarland

This short book gives  an account of the origin of the McFarland name, early history of the clan, and their migration to America. The focus is on the line of descendants who early settled in Hancock County, Maine. Thomas and James McFarland immigrated to America prior to 1768. The family was in Scotland prior to being in Ireland for over one hundred years.

Much research has been done since 1910 vastly expanding the decesdants, and the paternal line, traced back to Daniel McFarland died Worcester Mass 1738, DNA work has demonstrated the connection to John McFarland of Boothbay Maine, and expanded DNA connections to Duncan Mcfarland (wife Ann/Elizabeth Porter) and Francis McFarland of Lancaster PA ( there is a Supplement to the original book, that I found in the Lib of Congress some years back) [****]
