This fascinating book on the McNair family is the third supplement of the original 1923 publication. The second book in 1928 shows a focus on Andrew McNair, one of the ringers of the Liberty Bell. The doorkeepers of the Assembly of Pennsylvania were the official ringers of the Liberty Bell. Andrew McNair is listed from October 16, 1758-February 18, 1777. The earliest record on Andrew McNair was that of his marriage to Mary Jennings, in November, 1746, in Penna. The supplemental book in 1955 continues the accumulation of the family information. The origin of the name, the decription of the coat of ams, Scottish family history dates early. It is also shown that the name Macnayr has been found on documents as early as 1390 and that a coat of arms was given by King Robert Bruce to a chieftan of the McNairs at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314...
