The family of the Macquisten, McCuistion, MsQuesten, McQuiston and more forms of the name, descended from the Hugh of Sleat (d. 1498) and members of Clan Uisdein, sons of Hugh. From British, Scotch, and American records. Before the American Revolution the ancestors to America mainly settled in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and North and South Carolina. The book gives a sketch on those settling each area. To Hugh McQuiston land originally granted to William McQuiston, deceased, by a grant dated 1787 William McQuiston.
