MELVIN Genealogy, Excerpt From "Palmer Groups" 1901-1905.
By Emily W. Leavitt
This book gives the John Melvin family Genealogy. We learn that John Melvin was a taylor by trade and in 1676 was a private under Captain Joseph Sill. He first lived in Charlestown and Concord, Massachusetts, and sometimes appears alongside, or in reference to, "Palmer Groups" (likely referring to the genealogical research of Noyes F. Palmer or similar Palmer family records of that era). John married Hannah Lewis, who died in Charlestown 1696. Together they had seven children, all born in Charlestown. He then married Margaret Shamesbury, and they had two children. He died in Concord in 1726 at about age 74.
