Miles Merwin, 1772-1859; his Ancestors and Descendants. Miles has been the family name for many generations. The first Merwin came from North Wales to Milford, Connecticut as early as 1645. He was born about 1603, was a tanner by trade and became the owner of a large tract of land on the Shore of Long Island Sound. Descendants still occupy the land. He married young and records show he was the father of fifteen children by three different mothers.
