  • 1200

By John F. Mesick

This short booklet provides genealogy on the Mesick family. Various spellings of the name include Muzigh, Musig, Musick, and Mesig. Information was gathered from records in New York, and elsewhere. A map of Livingston Manor shows the Müsick house, the home of the original ancestor found on the Claverack Creek. Veil Müsig, a German Palatine is named as a volunteer in an expedition against Canada in July 1711. Information gathered draws the conclusion the first immigrant of the family came from the Palatinate on the Upper Rhine, where Heidelbergh was the chief city. During the reign of Charles Philip, the Reformed church was assailed with persecution. Thousands left their homes.
