Susannah Shriver was born on the Shriver Homestead, Greene County, Pennsylvania, in 1796, the daughter of John and Alice Richards Shriver. Her father, John Shriver, was born in 1763/1764, probably in Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Adams and Christina Shriver. Her mother, Alice Richards, was born in 1766, the daughter Henry Richards (1735-1793) and Jane Gaunt Richards (1744-1825). They were married in 1786 and migrated from Shenandoah Valley, near Winchester, Virginia, to Greene County, Pennsylvania, shortly after their marriage.
