If you have a Slayton ancestor and are interested in your genealogical history, you need this book. It contains a wealth of information and is very well organized. Just know that, since it was compiled in 1898, it goes only that far forward, so it does not include the most famous Slayton, Deke, who was an astronaut. Looking backwards, though, it does go back to the very first Slayton in the United States, who was born in Scotland in 1682, probably under a different surname. There is a mysterious history here, which the book relates. The story of the book's compilation is very entertaining.
