This book gives an in depth look at the history and genealogy of Samuel Carpenter (1649- 1714), his relatives and descendants. He was the first treasurer of the Province of Pennsylvania. He was born in England and went to Barbados before coming to America with his two brothers, Joshua and Abraham. They had considerable money on their arrival to Philadelphia, perhaps from investing in sugar in Barbados.
