This book gives an account of the descendants of Capt. Thomas Carter of "Barford", Lancaster Co, Virginia from 1652 to 1912. He was the son of a London merchant and the first of the family in Virginia, and was a planter and tobacco trader. Included are notes  on some of the allied families. Second edition.
