It was decided that a grand gathering of the descendants of Samuel Chapin, a Puritan deacon, would be held. This book gives an account of the Proceedings at the Meeting of the Chapin Family in Springfield, MASS, Sept. 17, 1862. The Chapin family is descended from Samuel Chapin, a Puritan deacon, who settled in Mass between 1636-1640 in Roxbury, then Springfield in 1642.
