This is a record of the early German and Scotch -Irish pioneers in America, including the families of Cleek, Gwin, Lightner, Warwick, and related families. It began in 1875 when the author's father began to record on the walls of the Cleek's Mill, his own grist and flour mill on Jackson River in Virginia, the important events of the community. Births, deaths, house burnings, the height of the river, and when the first automobile passed the mill on September 9, 1903.
