This is a record of the Clinton Family of Connecticut. Lawrence Clinton was of Ipswich, Mass, born about 1643, most likely from England. Records show him in Ipswich as early as 1665, where he married and later has a court suit against him from his wife, Rachel Halfield. She was thirteen years his senior, and petitioned for divorce in October, 1681. Rachel was tried for witchcraft in 1692.
