This is the family history of James Dougherty, born June 11, 1771, an immigrant from Ireland to America. He was came over with his siblings. He  married Elizabeth Hamilton who was born in Virginia. They settled near Copper Creek, VA, reared a large and respected family and stayed in that area until they died. He in 1857. She in 1845.
