R. A. Dowling

A Dowling Family of the South. Robert is the father of this branch. After his son William's birth his young wife died. In 1754 he married a second time, to Sarah. The family left Virginia and headed to South Carolina. Shortly after the call to arms by America's revolutionists, Robert became a soldier. By May of 1777 he was enrolled as a private.
