By Edith W. Goodman West
This book presents the Goodman family of Bolton, New York, along with their ancestry and descendants. Richard Goodman, the progenitor of the American family, was born in 1609 in Leicestershire, England. His family belonged to the landed gentry, and were lords of the manor of Blaston. Richard settled in the newly established Hartford, Connecticut as a young man and bachelor. We follow his journey of marriage, religion, social life, community service and being a part of new settlements in New England. In 1675 brought King Phillip's War, and the small frontier villages in Connecticut were repeatedly the scenes of Indian attacks. During one of these raids in April of 1676, Richard Goodman was killed by a scouting party of Indians. He died without a will. A copy of his estate inventory is shown.
