HALE Roots in Virginia: an account of Captain Thomas Hale, Virginia frontiersman, his descendants 1948
By Nathaniel Claiborne Hale
This is an account of Captain Thomas Hale, Virginia frontiersman. He settled in southwest Virginia, in what became Franklin County, shortly before (British Governor) Dunmore's War ushered in the American Revolution. His Kentish ancestors had settled on the James River in Virginia when the colony was young. Here we see his descendants with genealogies and sketches of the families of Hale, Saunders, Lucke, Claiborne, Lacy and Tobin.
