HAMMOND: History and genealogy of the Hammond Family in America. Volume I - II
By F. S. Hammond
The Two Volume set on the history and genealogy of the Hammond family gives recorded information from 1000 to 1902, showing their early history in Normandy and Great Britain. Volume 2 continues with the family in America with Thomas Hammond of Newtown, Massachusetts and his descendants. William and Elizabeth were married in London, England. She was sister to the Admiral, Sir William Penn and aunt to William Penn, the Quaker. Their children were all born in London. They were Benjamin, Elizabeth, Martha, and Rachel. After William died, widow Elizabeth with the children came to New England on the ship 'Griffen' during the troublesome times of 1634. They left a good estate in London. Elizabeth (Penn) Hammond died in 1640.
