The Hamricks of West Virginia are descendants of Patrick Hamrick who settled in Prince William County, in the Colony of Virginia prior to 1740. Prince William County had been formed in 1731. Fascinating history of this area and the Indian stories selected because of the place of occurrence. These tragedies occurred where the early settlers of Webster County first built their homes. The name appears in the Colonial records and the records of the Revolutionary War. The spelling varies in some records. Benjamin Hamrick of the Revolution participated in several of the most decisive battles of the war, a section is dedicated with his story details.
