This is the the (Hyer) family, whose ancestors resided in Norway. This branch of descendants came to America in 1842. Their main reason for emigration was to better their future conditions economically. Wages were low and. taxes were very high. The southeast part of Norway had been their home for generations. Upon leaving their home they traveled by land some distance and then took ship from Larvik, Norway. Sickness and poverty prevailed upon their journey and arrival.
