HEARD: History of the Heard family of Wayland, MA 1880

  • 1600

By John H. Edwards

This book shares an account of the Heard family of Wayland, Massachusetts, showing their pedigree in America.  The names of Sudbury and East Sudbury are not used in connection with the family of Wayland previous to it becoming a separate town, to avoid confusion. The town of Wayland was incorporated in 1835. Zachariah Heard is the earliest record seen here, dated in 1707, when he purchased a homestead and shop in Cambridge. He was a prominent member of Wayland, he was a highway surveyor in 1714, a constable in 1716 and held town offices.
