HENRY: Descendants of Philip Henry, revised edition 1925

Descendants of the Reverend Philip Henry, born at Whitehall, Westminster, 1631, and he had five sisters. His father was John Henry and his grandfather was Henry Williams of Brittons Ferry, near Swansea. Custom in Wales of that time to make the christian name of the father the surname of the son. He was named Philip by Philip Earl of Pembroke, who with James Earl of Carlisle and Countess of Salisbury, were his sponsors. He preached his first sermon at Hincksey in OxfordshireJan 1653. the life of Matthew Henry, his son,
