HERSHEY Family History 1929

  • 6500

By Henry Hershey

The Hershey name has been traced to early times, with an honorable lineage. Twenty different spellings are seen in records and on tombstones, including Harsh, Harsha, Hershi, Hersha, Hirsch, Hirschel, Hurshey. The Hersheys that came from Europe were members of Mennonite Church. These forefathers were opposed to war. For this particular line, the book begins with Andrew Hershey, who came to America in 1719, as the first generation in this genealogy. They were settled in parts of eastern Pennsylvania, including Lancaster and Dauphin County.
