This book includes a brief biographical memorial of Jacob Hertzler, and a genealogical family register, from 1730-1883. He was born in 1703, of Swiss parents, was a farmer and minister of the Amish Mennonite Church. He was married in Europe. With his first wife he had one son, John. She died and was buried in Europe. His second wife was Catherine, and they had children. On account of being persecuted for his faith, his family emigrated to America. They landed in Philadelphia in 1749. He resided in Berks County, near Hamburg. His descendants and allied lines by marriage, are included, as well as an appendix of the Christian Zug family, along with historical notes. He is the first generation of Hertzlers in America recorded in this registry, Berks, Chester, and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
