Lodowick Hoxie, the common ancestor of the Hoxies in the U.S. arrived about 1650 and settled in the town of Sandwich, in Plymouth Colony. Lodowick married Mary Presbury. The name is variously spelled Hawkes, Hakes, Hackse, Hauksie, Hoxy, and more. Three centuries in America with eleven generation of descendants and with names indexed by M.G.D. Hinnckley.
